Txt Snta and do yr bit for charity

ASDA Cumbernauld kicked off the ITV “Text Santa” appeal last Friday with the backing of local MP Gregg McClymont.

The Labour member met with staff who were promoting the initiative which seeks to raise money for several local charities as well as Strathcarron Hospice, St Andrew’s Hospice and Yorkhill.

The simple scheme encourages donations of £1, £5 or £10 to be made to charity by texting Santa1, Santa5 or Santa10 to 70070.

Gregg said: “It was a privilege to launch the Text Santa Appeal. Great credit must go to the staff at ASDA for all the hard work they have put into making it a success.

“I am sure that local people, and indeed people throughout the UK as a whole, will give what they can to help these very worthy charities.”

ASDA’s Community Colleague Lynn Deakin said: “ASDA are delighted that so many local charities will benefit from this appeal.  I must also thank Gregg for coming along and launching what really is a worthy cause”.
