A fierce blaze at a popular restaurant in the early hours of yesterday (Tuesday) is being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
The Underwood Lockhouse, which is on the Forth and Clyde Canal at Allandale, near Cumbernauld, was discovered on fire shortly after 4am.
Firefighters from four different stations rushed to the scene, but the building was reduced to a shell. No-one was hurt, but the fire’s cause is under police investigation.
