Water has been finally been restored to thousands of homes across Cumbernauld but problems have arisen with provision elsewhere.
Houses in Abronhill, Seafar, Carbrain, Kildrum and part of Condorrat were affected by a burst water main in Forest Road Extensive flooding sealed off the road and sparked a landslide next to railway lines.
Train services within Cumbernauld were pulled as a consequence. Services are now back to normal.
However, in a new twist Scottish Water has admitted that another part of the town. Greenfaulds, is affected by water shortages this morning.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: “A burst water main has been identified in Greenfaulds Road and customers in this area may experience disruption to their normal water service.
“We have a team on site who will take the necessary action to restore supplies to customers as quickly as possible.”
