Villagefloodsprobe

RECENT flooding problems in Cumbernauld Village are being investigated following a string of complaints from residents.

Things came to a head on the weekend of February 4 and 5 when severe flooding at Wilderness Brae at the junction between the A8011 flyover and the slip road, causing problems for drivers and resulting in the slip road being cordoned off blocking southbound access to the Village and limiting bus services.

Other problems include the Village burn, the Bog Stank, frequently bursting its banks, causing access problems between Glasgow Road and Old Glasgow Road and drowning Jubilee Park in water, often a foot or more deep, which has been highlighted as a potential drowning hazard for children who use the park as a playing area.
