Warning over rail delays via Croy

TRAIN passengers travelling to Edinburgh via Croy face significantly increased journey times, according to a local elected representative.

Labour MSP Mark Griffin has challenged Transport Minister Keith Brown to “take charge” of the Edinburgh - Glasgow Improvement Programme. The Scottish Government has come under fire from critics who believe the project has been curtailed.

Mr Griffin said: “The work will result in the closure of the Winchburgh Tunnel for over 40 days which will require all trains from Croy to reverse at Dalmenny, doubling journey times. With as many as 20 trains per hour my concern is that Dalmenny will be unable to handle that much demand, resulting in yet more delays. I have logged questions at Parliament asking the Transport Minister to take charge of this situation.”

“It is obvious that EGIP is being cut back from what was originally planned. Its budget was originally in excess of £1 billion but it has been scaled back to £650m.”
