Welfareagreed

LOCAL housing association Sanctuary Cumbernauld has recently appointed a welfare rights officer to help clients ensure they get what they are entitled to.

The project sees benefits expert Katrina Cunningham “loaned” from North Lanarkshire Council to work with Sanctuary’s tenants and factored owners. She will be in this role until the end of October 2013. The agreement was formalised at a contract signing in Bron Way by NLC Housing and Social Work convener Barry McCulloch and Hugh Gough, vice-chairman of Sanctuary Cumbernauld.

Mr Gough said: “This partnership is great news for our residents and will ensure they get the benefits they are due. Some people don’t know how to claim the money they are entitled to, or even realise what help is available. This service will ensure residents get the full benefits they deserve.”
