Wembley result a great result for Kilsyth cyclists

Freewheeling bravehearts from Kilsyth have successfully cycled all the way from Hampden Park to Wembley to raise charity cash.

The ambitious 450 mile ride tied in with the England Scotland match which was the first international between the two rivals in fourteen years.

The team comprised of father and son Gareth and Rory Homes, Andrew Hossack and Andrew McBurnie. They wanted to mark this momentuous occasion by doing something special. The Tartan Army Children’s Charity will benefit from their efforts and a whopping £1500 has been raised so far.

The so-called Wembley Wheelers set off from Hampden Park on Friday, July 9 ,and cycled 100 miles to Carlisle on their first day. The boys averaged a gruelling 90 miles a day before arriving at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Policeman Gareth said: “The cycling was really hard going but knowing our cycling was helping others made us dig really deep.’’
