We’re sick of yobs plaguing our village

PUBLIC drinking and anti-social behaviour are blighting parts of Condorrat and many residents have had enough.

That’s the message from local councillor Danny Carrigan who says he has been contacted by numerous residents in the Kirkview area who are fed up with youths making parts of the village a no-go zone.

Councillor Carrigan said: “I have received complaints from residents that there are frequent public drinking sessions and anti-social behaviour incidents occurring almost every weekend in the underpass between the Weavers public house and Kirkview in Condorrat.

Residents state that they feel intimidated from using these underpasses and moreover the noise is such that it is disturbing people’s sleep.

“Put simply, the residents are in despair and want to see firm action by the police.”

Councillor Carrigan is backing the demands for tougher action and wrote to Cumbernauld police this week on the issue.

And officers are set to make the area a priority in a crackdown on the unacceptable behaviour.
