Wheel of fortune

A GIFT which originated in Korea has helped to benefit two good causes in Cumbernauld - just in time for Christmas.

Glencryan School is £350 richer thanks to a scheme which originated at Kumho tyre company in the Far East which donates large sums to charity as part of a social responsibility programme.

And it was a Cumbernauld stockist of this Korean export that was instrumental in securing the cash sum for the Greenfaulds school, plus mental health support group Now You’re Talking.

And they have Cumbernauld Village-based Kumho retailer Jim Dickson Tyres and Exhausts to thank for nominating them. The ultimate result was decided by a public vote.

Glencryan which caters for youngsters with additional support needs was given £350.

Headteacher Angela Moore said: “We are delighted and thank Jim Dickson Tyres and Exhausts and Kumho for this gift.

“We would also like to thank everyone in our local community for their support. The money will be used to support extra activities planned for pupils in the new year,” she added.

Meanwhile, Now You’re Talking received £150 and intends to put the money towards its counselling and support service which has experienced some financial problems in 2012.
