POLICE are probing two assaults in Kilsyth and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

In the the first incident, a 46-year-old man was assaulted as he returned to the house of a friend at Hamill Drive, at around 11.30pm on Thursday.

According to police, a male suspect grabbed the visitor and pushed him to the ground – but it would seem that more than one person was involved.

The man received what was described as a “superficial” cut to his head.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old man was hurt during a sustained attack early on Saturday.

It is understood that the assault took place around 2.15 am after the victim left a party in Townhead Street. A man punched him in the face and the assult continued between Shuttle Street and Donaldson Avenue.

It is thought that several people were involved in this cowardly attack.

The victim sustained bruising and grazes to his head, body and arms as a result of his ordeal.

Police officers say they are following a “positive line of inquiry” in relation to those involved in the attack.

However, they are keen to speak to a male described as white, approximately 19 years of age and stocky build.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is asked to contact Cumbernauld police station on 503900.
