Those involved in the show say the standard of the entertainment was extremely high and it was a difficult decision to come up with a winner.

But that decision was down to judges, Councillor Heather McVey, who is chairwoman of Culture NL, and Deborah Chaman, from Bennetts.

The compere for the evening was Amy Jarvie, and the crowd were entertained by Kyle McLeod and Ross Leonard while the judges made a decision .

The winner was Stephanie McBride while second place went to Graham Miller as Hannah McFarlane took third spot.

The money raised will help run the hall in Banton Community Centre, which relies on fundraising activities like this as well as a small grant from North Lanarkshire Council.

Pamela McLeod, from the Banton Community Centre committee, said: “A big thank you to everyone who took part and to Lynda for organising the event.

“I am looking forward to this being an annual event which brings the village together to celebrate our young people and their talents as well as raising much needed money for the hall.

“We raised £235, which is great for a first attempt.”

You can support the community hall which is available for birthday parties and various types of functions.
