Here’s when beauty salons and nail bars could reopen in Scotland

Scotland is slowly easing lockdown restrictions as part of its phased route map, with the first stage beginning on Friday 29 May.

But when will beauty salons be able to reopen? Here’s what you need to know.

During which phase of lockdown will beauty salons reopen?

Those who are eagerly anticipating being able to get their nails and other beauty treatments done once again, will have to wait until phase three of Scotland’s route map out of lockdown.

This will begin from 9 July at the earliest.

Alongside personal retail such as hairdressers and beauty salons, larger retailers will also reopen with physical distancing in this phase.

Pubs and restaurants will also be allowed to reopen in indoor spaces with physical distancing and increased hygiene measures.

Physical distancing requirements will be in place, with frequent handwashing and hygiene measures for all.

Cough etiquette will also be maintained, with face coverings in enclosed public spaces, including public transport.

What’s the situation in England?

In England, although it was originally thought that hairdressers could be among the first businesses to reopen, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab revealed that they will now not open until 4 July at the earliest during phase three.

This also includes some cafes or restaurants with outdoor space, places of worship and socially distanced cinemas.

They may also be very busy when they do reopen, so if your local beauty salon does have a waiting list, then it’s worth putting your name down now.
