Controversial TV presenter Jeremy Kyle is to make a comeback later this year, according to his new representative.

Claire Powell of The CAN Group confirmed the news on Twitter in a statement promising that the veteran broadcaster would "have his say" after a year "spent battling unimaginable consequences of a devastating tragedy."

Why was the Jeremy Kyle Show cancelled in 2019?

The Jeremy Kyle Show was cancelled by ITV after a guest appeared to take his own life shortly after failing a lie detector test on the programme.

At first, all filming and broadcasting suspended pending a review, before the broadcaster announced on 15 May that it would be dropped permanently.

ITV said that it will continue to work on our projects with Kyle, who described himself as "utterly devastated" following the cancellation.

He said: "Myself and the production team I worked with for the last 14 years are all utterly devastated by the recent events.

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with Steve's family at this incredibly sad time."

The Sun named the guest as Steve Dymond, 63, reporting that he had taken a lie detector test to convince his ex fiancée, Jane Callaghan, that he had not been unfaithful.

Mr Dymond was reportedly found dead a week after the episode was recorded on 2 May.

'Honest, engaging opinions'

It's unclear whether Jeremy Kyle would be hosted on ITV or an alternative channel.

In a lengthy Instagram post Powell heaped praise on Kyle.
