Abronhill BC host Glasgow Association five-rink finals

ON Sunday, July 18 Abronhill Bowling Club, as part of the 25th anniversary year, were hosts to the Glasgow Bowling Association five rinks finals.

Competing teams for the Charity Cup, Coronation Cup, Centenary Cup, Sponsored Fours and the under 45 trophy were Burnbank, Cardonald, Barr and Stroud, Kingswood, Hawthorn, Mearns, Blackhill, Burnside, Kelvindale and Drumoyne Bowling Clubs.

Five superb finals were played out in a competitive, yet friendly, manner. The eventual winners were Burnbank, Kingswood, Hawthorn, Burnside and Drumoyne.

GBA vice-president, Andrew McLean ended the day by presenting Abronhill with a beautiful crystal decanter in recognition of the club's 25th anniversary. He went on to thank Abronhill's ladies for the catering provided as well as the club for the hospitality shown to the competitors, and supporters as well as turning out an excellent surface worthy of the association's finals.

Abronhill president, Willie Carmichael, thanked the Association for the honour in being awarded these prestigious finals at Abronhill and for the kind gift presented to mark our anniversary.

In concluding the day he went on to say: "I hope all the competitors enjoyed the visit to Abronhill Bowling Club and congratulations to all the winners and runners up. It has been both an honour and pleasure to host such an event and I thank all our members who have worked so hard today to make your visit enjoyable".
