Archibald takes European cycling silver in Paris
Milngavie cyclist Katie Archibald has won a silver medal in the European track championships in Paris.
The 22-year-old was defending the title, one of three golds she won at last year's championships, and looked on course for a repeat only to be pipped by Dutch rider Kirsten Wild. France's Laurie Berthon took bronze.
Archibald, who won Olympic gold as part of the team pursuit squad in Rio this August, said: "My legs felt good. I'm saying I'm happy with silver...but people are really happy with gold."
She still has two further medal chances, in the individual pursuit - which she also won last year - and the omnium.
