The Cumbernauld Chiefs Pow Wow event will take place at St Maurice’s High School from noon until 2pm and will be open to both sexes and all ages.

Activities will include a skill school, shooting hoop games, competitions and quizzes on the NBA and the aim of the fun event is to promote the club and the sport in the area and encourage more people to take it up.

Although based in Cumbernauld the club has players from the wider North Lanarkshire area and earlier this year were awarded a £6,965 grant by SportScotland to develop a programme to increase the number of girls playing basketball in North Lanarkshire. The Chiefs are a large and established club which is always looking to expand its membership and attract players of all levels of skill.

The open day is intended as an introductory opportunity for anyone interested in going along to meet the players and coaches and see what the club has to offer.

There will be information on club sessions and membership fees, baking stalls and various other goodies on offer and all will be welcome.
