Bully Wee grab another win

CLYDE midfielder Pat Scullion says the season is far from dead as the Bully Wee grabbed their second win under Jim Duffy.

The Broadwood men’s 4-2 over Stranraer means they have now earned seven points in four games under Duffy, one more than they managed in six months under Stuart Millar.

Scullion is one of a host of new faces having joined on loan last week, just in time for the victory over Berwick Rangers, having found himself out of favour with new Stenhousemuir boss Davie Irons.

He said: “I was perfectly happy at Stenhousemuir, but the new manager arrived and brought in some new players so when a big club like Clyde showed an interest I was delighted. I realise they’ve gone through a difficult few years, and obviously as I wasn’t here I can’t comment on what has gone on before, but we seem to have a good group on guys who can play a bit.

“Things have gone well with two wins in the three games since I arrived. We might be bottom, but in no way is the season dead.

“There is so many games and so many points left to fight for that I just don’t see this being where we finish and who knows how high we can go if we continue this early momentum.”

Due to injuries to regular centre back pairing Alan Lithgow and Ross McMillan, Scullion found himself pressed into service in defence, but he still found time to get up the other end of the pitch and chip in with the all important third goal.

He said: “It wasn’t totally alien as I started at centre half at Alloa and may have played there once or twice for Cowdenbeath.

“When I was at Stenny we played Stranraer in the cup so I knew Armand One was going to be a handful and so it proved.

“I was disappointed I missed the header when he scored, but It was good to get a goal of my own.

“I actually went up the pitch expecting the ball to be swung into the box, but Charlie Miller played a clever free-kick to John Stewart and I could hardly miss, although I’ve thought that before.”

Miller finally made his long awaited Clyde debut as international clearance was finally granted and although looking short of fitness, his reading of the game and passing proved as sharp as ever although he was overshadowed by Ryan MacBeth’s dynamic display in midfield and will be a massive loss when he returns to Patrick Thistle next month.
