Clyde boss remains positive

THE "rub of the green" is all Clyde boss Stuart Millar says his side need to start turning possession into results.

Yet again the Broadwood coach watched his side dominate play against Annan Athletic and emerge with nothing for their troubles.

He said: "It's the same old familiar story – we're missing chances at one end and being punished at the other. We're not playing badly, but when you give away such an early goal and give them something to hang on to you're always going to have a hill to climb.

"We're getting beaten by teams that aren't as good as us, we just need a bit of luck, the rub of the green and I'm sure it will turn around."

Millar thinks his team must start realising the effect coming to play at a stadium like Broadwood can have on visiting sides.

He continued: "When opposing teams are coming to play here on this lovely surface and in this stadium it gives them a lift and they raise their game. I still believe we have better players than anyone else in this league. The players have a bit more expectation on them at this club than most."

With the season only six games old, Millar believes it is still too early to know what the season has in store for the Bully Wee.

He added: "I think what we said at the start of the season still applies – we want to have a team who can compete. When you look at the likes of Berwick at the top, this is their third season together as a squad. We're very much a new squad trying to compete."

Millar expects a tough game against Montrose this Saturday but believes his side are capable of picking up all three points.

He said: "We've got to go there with confidence. It'll be a tough game but it's down to us to make sure the players are relaxed and come back with something."
