Clyde fail to hang on for first home win

On-LOAN Clyde midfielder Ryan MacBeth hopes to prove his injury problems are behind him and help Clyde off the bottom of the third division during his month at Broadwood.

MacBeth (19) is no stranger to the Bully Wee fans having scored a dubious winner for Partick Thistle when the sides met at Firhill in the Challenge Cup this season.

However, three games later he found himself on the sidelines with a double hernia and on recovering was despatched to Broadwood last week to get match fit.

He said: “I played my way into the team at Thistle but then I got injured. It was a long five months being out and I just couldn’t wait to get back.

“As far as I understand I am here for a month and that’s concrete, there is no option of me staying longer as Ian McCall’s wants me back for the run-in.

“However, Clyde have a lot of games to play this month so hopefully I’ll play most of them and do what I can to help lift them away from the bottom of the table.

MacBeth was joined in the starting line-up by fellow on-loan Jag Bryn Halliwell who returned to Broadwood five years after departing for Dunfermline.

Duffy also welcomed back Nicki Paterson in midfield as his move back to America has stalled and gave a rare start to John Stewart up front.

Clyde travel to face Arbroath on Saturday.
