Could it be Stuart?

DESPITE their presumed lowly position the Clyde managerial hot seat is attracting plenty of interest.

The News and Chronicle understands former Gretna and Morton manager Davie Irons has applied while man of many clubs, including a brief spell at Clyde, Ally Graham has also declared an interest.

However, the smart money would be on former Clyde winger and Cumbernauld United manager Stuart Millar. A long-time associate of director of football Neil Watt, including being his assistant at Ayr United, Millar watched the first half of Saturday's game wearing what looked suspiciously like a Clyde club tie, despite being thought to be employed by Ross County as a scout.

Watt, though refused to be drawn on whether we should read anything into his presence given their history.

He said: "You can imply anything you like. Stuart is a just a good football man and I hope he enjoyed the game."

Caretaker manager Watt may be sure his side will be playing in division three next season but a convincing win over Stenhousemuir has left winger Jordan White believing they might pull off a miracle.

Had results gone against them Clyde would have been relegated but as it was they won while Arbroath lost to Stirling Albion meaning the Bully Wee lived to fight another day.

A win at Dumbarton last night (Tuesday) would take them within seven points of Arbroath with four games left to play and on Saturday's form would be a match for anyone.

After last week's dire display against Arbroath, Clyde redeemed themselves somewhat against Alloa in midweek but still went down to the same 2-0 scoreline.

As such there was little expectation going to Ochilview on Saturday but perhaps feeling they had nothing to play for Clyde produced their best game of the season as goals from Alan Lithgow, White and Adam Strachan put the Larbert side to the sword.

White (18) said: "I guess the pressure was off and for the first time we really looked like the a team who had played together for a while.

"Wednesday was also a pretty good team performance but we just couldn't get a goal, however we finally got the goals our play deserved.

"We have five games left so obviously it will be tough but we haven't given up in the dressing room just yet and if we continue to play like that then who knows, stranger things have happened."

When asked if Clyde could stay up after Saturday's performance, Watt said: "No, no, no, no, no, no. We played well but Arbroath will pick up points."
