Cowboy aims to add to his posse

CLYDE boss John McCormack is still hoping to add to his squad before the transfer window slams shut at 5pm on Monday.

All five of Cowboy's new signings featured in last Saturday's defeat to Brechin City, although sub-keeper Scott Findlay's debut was no doubt unexpected.

The Broadwood boss, however, is adamant that he wants to further bolster his squad, ideally ahead of Saturday's trip to New Bayview to face East Fife.

McCormack said: "We had a bounce game yesterday for the players to let us assess them and make sure they're getting sharper. Hopefully I'll be able to add to the team before the end of the week, ahead of the East Fife game.

"It's like anything else, sometimes the players you get in aren't the ones you wanted, but we're trying to bring a bit of experience in. Lads like Neil (McGowan) who have shown over the years that they want to win."

Despite Saturday's defeat to Brechin, who currently sit in fourth place – the position Cowboy aims to finish in - the manager says there are enough points left in the season to reach a playoff spot.

He said: "I know the fans want to see results instantly and I want to see them as well, I'm my own toughest critic. I'll keep on striving to get where I think the club can be – I believe that what I've got and what I'm doing is right.

"We'll go into the East Fife game with a positive attitude and look to take the three points. It's (fourth place) still within our grasp – it's important that we set a standard for ourselves that is tough. At the moment there's 18 games left so that's 54 points, we now need to get the results and get this team moving up the table."
