Cowboy blasts the boo boys

Clyde 1Cowdenbeath 2The Irn-Bru Scottish Football LeagueSecond Division

CLYDE boss John McCormack blasted the club's support as his side fell ten points adrift of ninth placed Arbroath at the bottom of the second division.

Despite dominating much of the game the Bully Wee went down 2-1 to Cowdenbeath and McCormack was unhappy that some fans didn't appreciate the improvement in his side's play.

He said: "We are a much improved team but some of the supporters don't want to see good football they just want results.

"That makes it hard for the players as in the first half they produced some brilliant football but it just isn't appreciated.

"Some of the boys are out of legs having played three games in a week, they are giving everything and don't deserve abuse.

"If the fans want to abuse someone then aim it at me, I don't like it and would far rather they were giving their backing to the team, but I can take it.

"I have been given tremendous backing by the club and in the first half there was only one team on the pitch but some of the supporters need to have a look at themselves because there was no shortage of effort."

Clyde started with the same team that had drawn with Alloa and East Fife last week and weathered some early Cowdenbeath pressure to dominate the first half as Kris Doolan, John Stewart, Adam Strachan and Alexanders Gramovics all went close.

However, right on half time Clyde were punished for failing to take the lead as Mark Ramsay crossed for Gareth Wardlaw and his shot deflected off William Kinniburgh and spun past Callum Reidford.

This seemed to deal a severe blow to the home side and it was the visitors who took charge in the second half and only a good save by Reidford denied Ramsay before the midfielder's second effort was cleared off the line by Patrick Boyle.

On 68 minutes it was 2-0 as Wardlaw played a long ball over the top for John Dempster to chase. Reidford parried his shot but the substitute reacted first to knock in the rebound.

Clyde threw themselves a lifeline seven minutes from time as Dmitrijs Borisovs took advantage of a poor defensive header to scuff the ball past David Hay for his first goal for the club. However, Cowdenbeath held on and indeed only the width of the post stopped Dempster making the win more emphatic.

Clyde's relentless schedule continued last night (Tuesday) as they welcomed Dumbarton . They then travel to Brechin on Saturday and Cowdenbeath next Tuesday.
