Cumbernauld look set for promotion

CUMBERNAULD look set to make the move up to the Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division next season.

The Guy's Meadow side took a share of the points when they drew 1-1 with Lesmahagow Juniors on Monday night.

However, that point should be enough to ensure their passage into the higher league.

Theoretically, St. Anthony's, who have only two games left to play, could over take the local side, if United fail to win any of their remaining four games. But St. Anthony's would have to score 17 goals without reply to achieve this.

With two teams going up, United could share the promotion with Shotts, who still have six games to play and are 12 points behind the Cumbernauld side.

Tonight (Wednesday), United play host to St. Anthony's in what should prove to be a cracking game. Kick-off at Guy's Meadow is 7 p.m. and a good crowd is hoped for to cheer on the local side in the run-in to what has been their best season for some time.

On Saturday, United take a break from league action to face Shotts Bon Accord in the third round of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup. Kick-off is 2 p.m.
