Action from Saturday's game between Cumbernauld 1st XV and Strathaven.

In their latest RBS League Division 2 match Cumbernauld faced bottom-of-the-league Strathaven and enjoyed an 11-try bonanza.

The home team, with their forwards in fine form, stormed into an early lead when Daniel Prinn picked up a loose ball which was fed through Alex Stokes and Jordan Reid for Grant Cowie to score in the corner.

A plethora of tries soon followed from a rampant home team. Alan MacLeod, playing at number 8 for the first time, scored a typical number 8 try by picking up from the base of the scrum and powering over. Alan then turned try-maker when he fed Daniel Prinn to score in the corner. However the best try of the match was scored when Captain Jordan Reid fielded a Strathaven kick to touch, ran 70 metres and fed Alan MacLeod to score Cumbernauld’s fourth try. This try was successfully converted by full-back Andrew Reid who had been very unlucky with some of his earlier conversion attempts.

Martin Wallace then decided to get in on the act by collecting a loose ball on the half way line and slaloming all the way to the Strathaven line for a fine try. Andrew Logan who was having a fine game at hooker then took another strike against the head and following good handling from Alan MacLeod and Nick Richardson, Ross Cowie scored try number 6 on the stroke of half-time. By this time Andrew Reid had found his kicking boots and routinely successfully kicked the conversions for tries number five and six to make the half-time score 36-0 for the Blacks.
