Cumbernauld through in West cup

Rutherglen Glencairn 0 Cumbernauld United 3

New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup, second round

CUMBERNAULD United treated the spectators at the Clyde Gateway Stadium on Saturday to a football masterclass.

On a surprisingly perfect playing surface the new town team put on a show of skill and precision that at times was breathtaking, and their Rutherglen opponents were completely outplayed in a totally one sided contest. The only criticism that can be levelled at United is that they did not convert their superiority into more goals.

With the exception of long time injury victim Jim Brown, manager John Queen had a full squad at his disposal and the future looks brighter, as United attempt to climb up the league and progress even further in the West of Scotland Cup.
