Cumbernauld’s Cameron Gray tackles seven summits

23-year-old Cameron Gray, from Balloch, is raising funds and promoting the Boys’ Brigade through “7 Summits”, a challenge he devised himself to climb the tallest mountain on every continent, including Antarctica.

Trainee accountant Cameron, who attended Lenzie Academy, has already climbed Africa’s tallest mountain Kilimanjaro two years ago, when he accompanied a team from the University of Strathclyde, and in a few weeks will jet off to Argentina to attempt to scale Aconcagua.

Cameron hopes this will help encourage interest in joining the Boys’ Brigade as well as raising money for the organisation.

“Being part of the Boys’ Brigade has been of fantastic benefit to my life and I hope this will help raise awareness of what we do. I think most people have at least heard of the Boys’ Brigade but there are still quite a lot of people who don’t know that much about it. The Cumbernauld group is doing well, with around 60 members, but I’d like to see even more people get involved. I am also doing this to raise money for the BB nationwide as we are currently fundraising to renovate our headquarters.”
