Deja vu for Longhorns

LANARKSHIRE Longhorns Junior American Football team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat last weekend as they claimed a narrow win over Gateshead Senators in the dying seconds of the match.

After trading scores throughout the game the Longhorns found themselves trailing 20-18 despite touchdown scores from William McLaughlin, Nicky Farrell and Jonny McKillop.

As the game clock ticked into the last minute of game time, Lanarkshire contrived to move themselves back from within yards of the endzone, to 30 yards out due to repeated penalties, but Farrell managed to connect with rookie receiver Anthony Rice as the clock ran out for the winning score. The result placed them in second position in the BAFANL Junior North Division, but only points allowed separated them from the Senators so their season was still far from safe.
