Duffy looking forward to Queen’s visit

IT’S never nice to be idle during a weekend of cup fixtures, but Jim Duffy says having time off will work to his side’s advantage.

While some SFL clubs were preparing for the quarter-finals of the Ramsdens Challenge Cup, the Clyde players were no doubt more concerned about Scotland’s crucial qualifier with the Czech Republic.

The Bully Wee suffered first round penalty heartache in the competition back in July however, disappointing though that may have been, the chance to draw breath has allowed some heavy legs in the side to recover.

Duffy said: “We had a few knocks and injuries that some of the players were carrying so it’s given us a chance to recover from those.

“The boys trained hard last week so we gave them the weekend off to relax a bit.

“We’ll have them back in for training this week and we’ll have an idea of where we stand with the injuries.”

The Cumbernauld side were left disappointed on their last outing when they suffered a frustrating first league defeat at the hands of a stubborn Annan Athletic.

Next up is the visit of Queen’s Park to Broadwood on Saturday.

Duffy added: “It’s one we’re looking forward to. They’re a good footballing side and I always enjoy watching them.

“It should be a good open match, with both teams going for it.”
