Duffy puts youngsters into Clyde team

CLYDE boss Jim Duffy admits he would rather not be throwing young players into a struggling side, but hopes it may stand them in good stead for next season.

The Bully Wee manager handed a debut to 17-year-old striker Grant Dickie away to Berwick Rangers on Saturday, while fellow youngster Jack Sloss made just his fourth start and Kieran Daw made a second appearance off the bench.

Duffy said: “On Thursday I decided to go with Grant as we don’t have any front players really.

“The ones we did have earlier in the season like Liam Cusack and Jordan White have gone and since then we’ve been lacking so felt that we had nothing to lose by throwing a young boy in.

“I actually thought, in the first particularly, he showed up well. He worked hard, had really good energy and certainly more than merited playing and was one of the few successes.”
