Duffy working hard to build new squad

The Bully Wee currently have 11 players signed to contracts, with only six of those having been a part of the first team last season.

Duffy said: “It’s just a matter of working through, it’s a slow process. You have to give players enough time to try and show their ability.

“It’s not a matter of judging whether they can fit in on one training session, you’ve got to give them a period of time to feel comfortable and settle in.

“We had a bounce game on Saturday and afterwards we told a few guys they weren’t quite what we were looking for, and then we asked a couple of other players if they would like to join the club.”

Duffy continued: “We were delighted with the signing of Paul Hay, he’s a terrific professional in terms of his fitness and his ability.

“He’s excellent with the other players and it’s important for us to have guys like that for the others to look up to and learn from.”

The Broadwood boss says the club will explore a number of avenues in their bid to strengthen ahead of the new season’s start in a month’s time.

He added: “Most of the players we’ve been looking at have come from senior clubs, whether they’re young and have been released or whether they’re out of contract.

“We’ll have a tight squad, half of them will be under 21, but I think a club like Clyde should be bringing through young players.

“We’ve obviously got to have a minimum of 16 and I would like to add to that; when the season kicks in we can look at the loan situation, but that usually doesn’t happen until about September time.”
