Football honour for TV comic

Philip Differ, who is originally from Twechar, was given the title of honorary member by the committee of Kilsyth Rangers FC at a recent agm.

The club wanted to recognise his efforts in producing the recent DVD Glory Days.

The DVD features footage of the Scottish Junior Cup winning Kilsyth Rangers during the final of the competition in 1955.

They beat Duntocher Hibernian 4-1 and this footage is featured alongside interviews with players from that winning team who are still alive today.

Kilsyth Rangers FC were given the original film two years ago which was made by Alan Rennie, and had asked Differ to work his magic.

The original filmmaker’s brother John had it in his possession after Alan sadly passed away, and through giving it to the club, he has helped them raise funds.

John Ferguson, committee member of Kilsyth Rangers FC, said: “Aside from the DVD, Philip has done a lot for the club over the last 10 plus years.

“He has helped out at sportsman dinners and gave talks.

“We wanted to show we appreciate his support.”
