Amateur round-up: Campsie collapse as Kilsyth hit five

Campsie were playing away from Station Road once again as the park was unplayable and it was always going to be a difficult match against one of their local rivals.

It was exactly that with the first half finishing goaless, but the second half was to be a totally different game.

Just five minutes after the restart Kilsyth took the lead when a high cross delivered from the far side was met at the back post by the head of Crawford.

Campsie were creating chances but could not finish them off and in the 56th minute Kilsyth were awarded a free-kick from which Blackshaw made no mistake as his shot beat keeper Barr.

Campsie were now pushing further up the field trying to find an opening and were punished in the 61st minute when a long ball over the top was met by Roe who, despite Campsie claims for offside, burst clear and beat keeper Barr to give his side a three-goal lead.

It was now an uphill struggle for Campsie and they put on three substitutes to see if this could spark them into life.

But try as they might there was no sign of a goal and Kilsyth hit back again in the 80th minute when Blackshaw delivered a cross come shot that caught out the Campsie keeper to make it 4-0.

The final nail in the coffin came in the 86th minute when Griffin scored Kilsyth’s fifth goal and end a truly miserable day for Campsie.

Results/games off

Both Harestanes’ home match with Drumchapel and Campsie Minerva’s fixture with Haldane United - both Foster’s Central Scottish AFL Premier Division matches - were called off due to the weather on Saturday.

However there was success for Bishopbriggs-based Caledonian League side Glasgow Harp who won 3-2 away to Doune Castle in a Challenge Cup tie.

Lenzie YC

Lenzie YC under-16s drew 3-3 at home to Milngavie BC in a CKDYL match.

They were ahead twice in this match with goals from Thomson and Tolland (2) but Milngavie are due credit for their fightback.

Lenzie staged a fightback of their own to win 4-2 afte extra-time away to EDFC United in a Knockout Cup first round match.

They were 2-1 down with five minutes to play but Thomson stepped up to blast home a free-kick before completing a hat-trick with two goals in extra-time. Kinnell got Lenzie’s other goal with a 40-yard free-kick.
