This was the first league game of the season, and it was against a team that are contenders for the league title.

Barrhill started with five in midfield to close down some good players from the visitors. They were coping well with the task until the 30th minute when the visitors scored the opening goal.

The Braehead forward shot at goal but his effort was blocked and the rebound fell kindly into his path. He fired in a shot that went under keeper Stevensons body.

Five minutes later Pender took to many touches, got caught with the ball and the striker fired home for the visitors to go in two up at half-time.

That was all that Braehead did in the whole game. In the second half Barrhill were causing trouble every time they got the ball. This resulted in some very heavy challenges from the visitors and their centre-half Bering was shown the red card.

However, Barrhill failed to capitalise on their dominance in the second period, although they were the better team.
