Bully Wee forced to settle for point as Henderson strikes for battling Berwick

A goal midway through the second half denied Clyde victory over Berwick Rangers at Broadwood on Saturday.

An acrobatic strike by Sean Higgins gave the home side a first half lead but Blair Henderson’s 68th minute leveller meant Barry Ferguson’s men had to settle for a point.

Early on Clyde ’keeper John Gibson had to be alert to save from Michael McKenna and then Ewan McNeil.

But Clyde started to gain momentum, and after David Gormley had an effort ruled out for offside, the home side took the lead after 17 minutes when Higgins found the net with an acrobatic kick.

Clyde could have added to their lead before the break.

David Marsh shot over, before Archie Campbell raced through one on one with the keeper, Kevin Walker making a good save. Just before the interval Gormley was denied by another save from Walker.

Early in the second half there were chances at either end with Clyde’s Campbell and Berwick’s Darren Lavery pulling shots wide.

Scott McLaughlin had a shot saved by Walker whilst Jon Paul McGovern fired over from distance.

But on 68 minutes Berwick hauled themselves back level when Henderson found the corner of the net with a shot after being set up by substitute Dwayne Coultress.

Higgins shot over from a free-kick and then fired wide but Berwick might have snatched it in injury time, Henderson’s header going agonisingly wide.
