Bully Wee dumped out of cup

It was not a happy return to Ibrox for former Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson in his new role as Clyde boss.

The Bully Wee kept the Blues at bay for all of 16 minutes before Kris Boyd fired in the first of his three goals for the Ibrox outfit.

Five minutes later Ross McKinnon almost put Clyde on level terms but he blasted a free-kick over the bar.

However, Fraser Aird was the next of the home players to get his name on the scoresheet when he side-footed the ball into the net from 12 yards.

Three goals from the home side followed in the space of 12 minutes, with firstly Boyde grabbing his second and Gers third, then Lee McCulloch rifled in the fourth before Lewis Macleod notched up number five just before the break.

Macleod got his second, and Clyde’s sixth, in the 65th minute.

Bully Wee keeper Barclay was being kept busy, palming an Aird effort over the bar and then getting down quickly to smother a shot from Macleod .

David Templeton was involved in Rangers’ final two counters, setting up McCulloch to fire an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.

Then from a great run and pass down the left he set up Boyd who slotted home his hat-trick.

However, in the final minute Kevin Watt got a consolation for the Bully Wee when he fired a powerful shot past Steve Simonsen in the Rangers’ goal.

Clyde are back to league action this Saturday when they travel north to face Elgin City in a Scottish League Two fixtures. Kick-off at Borough Briggs is at 3pm.
