Scottish League Two

Visitors Annan Athletic took full points at Broadwood on Saturday to keep alive their slim hopes of catching leaders Peterhead.

And the Borders side stretched their lead over the Bully Wee to eight points.

With Iain Gray failing a fitness test on a knee injury and Brian McQueen picking up a calf problem in the warm up, Clyde boss Jim Duffy was forced to make some late adjustments to his team bringing in Fraser McGhee and Ryan Frances.

Annan were the first to have a chance at goal but Kieran MacDonald cleared off the line.

However, Stef McCluskey looked to put the home side ahead when he received a low cross from MacDonald, but the striker was closed down before he could get a shot away.

At the other end, Jamie Barclay did well to push a downward header onto the bar. Stuart McColm then missed a great chance for The Bully Wee, when Fraser McGhee’s long cross dropped at his feet but he couldn’t connect properly.

Shortly before half-time Annan went ahead, a 25-yard shot from Scott Davidson finding the top corner of the net.

Early in the second half, The Galabankies increased their lead when Frances’ attempted clearance was gathered by Josh Todd and he made no mistake from close range.

Clyde’s best opportunity to get back into the match came when Scott Ferguson found himself in front of Kenny Arthur in the away goal, but the winger put his shot wide of the target.

Annan finished the match off with a quick breakaway. Todd latched onto a through ball, held off MacDonald and beat Barclay to ensure the three points would return to Dumfries and Galloway.
