Clyde 3 Edinburgh City 1: Clyde celebrate first win in four months

The Bully Wee’s first chance of the game fell on nine minutes, when an ambitious long ball from Chris Smith found Peter MacDonald in a good position.

The opportunity was wasted though, after a heavy first touch from Peter MacDonald saw the ball diverted into the path of the Edinburgh defence.

From Clyde’s point of view, Edinburgh’s breakthrough goal in the 21st minute was avoidable. The defence looked to have switched off as Lewis Allan found himself clean through on goal to calmly slot past keeper Connor Quinn.

Clyde’s heads dropped after this and they were largely uninspiring for the remainder of the half. Martin McNiff’s half volley straight into the keeper’s arms was the closest they came.

The second half brought a complete change and Matthew Flynn got the leveller on 50 minutes.

Ewan McNeil’s fired the ball into the box dropped nicely for Flynn who volleyed it straight into the back of the net.

Clyde were totally dominant and didn’t have to wait long for their second. In the 56th minute David Gormley capitalised on Andrew Stobie’s spilled ball, before picking out MacDonald to nod into the empty net at the back post.

The visitors were stunned, but did have chances to level. Allan again found himself but shot weakly straight at Quinn and Marc Laird headed well over from the loose ball.

Clyde tied up the game in the 76th minute, when Scott Ferguson played a neat through ball to MacDonald. With just the keeper to beat, MacDonald swiped at the ball and it rested nicely in the right hand corner of net.
