Clyde are going for the pink

Clyde FC’s footballers will be ‘in the pink’ next season.

The Broadwood club have announced a partnership with Think Pink Scotland, an associated charity of the University of Glasgow,for season 2014/15.

The relationship will see Clyde FC first team wear a pink strip that will display the “Think Pink Scotland” logo on the collar of the 3rd strip.

The club has further agreed, in conjunction with kit supplier Only Sports, that 20 per cent of all sales will be donated to Think Pink Scotland.

Club director Bobby Gracey said: “After spending time with the charities team and researching their excellent work in the West of Scotland area they were quickly identified as a perfect fit for Clyde Football Club.

We are delighted to be able to assist raise awareness of breast cancer, which affects both men and women, whilst doing everything we can to financially contribute to the excellent research work being undertaken every day at Glasgow University.

In addition to wearing the pink strip, Think Pink Scotland will be official match and ball sponsor at a league home game,when further fundraising efforts will take place.

The pink strip which will retail at £35 for adults and £30 for kids is now available to be bought directly from the club at http://www.clydefc.co.uk/shop/ with £7/£6 of every sale being donated to the charity.

Catherine McGrory, development officer, University of Glasgow, said: “I am delighted with Clyde FC’s support for Think Pink Scotland. The sale of each new strip will help to raise vital funds for cancer research in Glasgow. It will also help us to raise awareness of the ground-breaking cancer research taking place at University of Glasgow.”

Lynn Murray, Think Pink Scotland-Founder said, “As a result of support from the public over the past few years, Think Pink Scotland has already funded two vital pieces of research equipment and a new cancer research lab in Glasgow. We want to continue to raise funds to help scientists translate their research into new and more effective treatments for patients. It is fantastic that the support from Clyde FC will help us to do this.”
