The former Elgin City man caught the eye in pre-season and was a major influence again with the first goal as Clyde began their League Two campaign with victory over Montrose.

Another fine display followed last week when Easton was the standout performer, particularly during the first half, of the Bully Wee’s second match at Stirling Albion.

Ferguson said: “He’s a player that when I first saw him I was pretty astonished that he’s playing in this division.

“Now I’ve worked with him for six weeks and I’m just glad to have somebody with his ability at the club.

“I think when I get him up to speed and get him playing his ability is frightening, so we’re lucky to have somebody like him.”

Easton himself was delighted with his goal and his side’s win against Montrose - the perfect way to celebrate the birth of his first child, son Harlen, two days earlier.

He said: “My girlfriend gave birth on Thursday in the early hours so I was up two days in a row and hadn’t slept.

“But after speaking to her she let me go ahead with it and I’m delighted.

“To start with a goal in the first game of the season with a goal is always a bonus but the win and the three points was the most important.”

“Normally I’m a goal a season. The manager said to me, looking at last season, my achievement was to chip in more goals so I’ve got off to a better start and hopefully it’s the first of many to come.”
