Clyde confirm appointment of new chairman

Innes, who will formally take over in May, succeeds John Alexander who stepped down at the end of last year.

A chartered engineer by profession, the new chairman was also a player at Clyde in the early eighties, while his father, Norrie senior, played for the club in the fifties when it enjoyed its golden era.

He recently spent seven years living and working in Catalonia where he combined businessinterests with his passion for football.

He is a registered FIFA agent, holds the SFA Coaching C Licence and at the age of 43 played in the Catalan Regional League.

With Clyde’s long-term base still under discussion, he has been involved it the club’s location strategy behind the scenes and will play a key role in the process.

He said: “Clyde FC has a very special place in our family. It is a club with great history and traditions, good people and a unique fan base.

“The club should not limit its ambitions or expectations. It is time to recalibrate and renormalize many things within and around Clyde FC and this change demands the positive input of all the strong and good people at the club, most especially the supporters. My role is one of simply helping to create the conditions for this to happen.”

Clyde vice-chairman John Taylor said: “We are delighted with Norrie’s appointment. His business acumen, experience of driving and delivering major development and regeneration projects, along with his first hand knowledge on and off the pitch make him the ideal fit.”
