Seafar Villa Boys Football Club and the 3rd Cumbernauld Scouts were among the groups benefiting from the £2,000 fund after the club invited people to apply for a share.

Gordon Nisbet, Trustee of club charity the Clyde FC Community Foundation, said: “The establishment of the bursary scheme is designed to contribute towards helping the many worthwhile causes and groups in the local area.”

The bursary is funded through the club’s lottery and distributed by the Community Foundation. The successful applicants were invited along to the club’s recent awards evening and were given their awards by manager Barry Ferguson.

Gordon added: “A proportion of the surplus of the lottery each year will be transferred to the Clyde Community Foundation who will administer the Community Bursary Scheme to illustrate in a tangible way the club’s desire to benefit the community as a whole.”

Information about how to apply for next year’s bursaries will be announced in early 2015.
