Clyde switch sports for fan fun day

WITH league football suspended due to Friday night’s Scotland international, Clyde took the opportunity to try their hand at a different type of sport.

On Friday the Bully Wee took to the links, with fans and Clyde figures past and present getting together for some enjoyable players vs fans fourball action, boosting community spirit and club funds.

One of the participants was team manager Jim Duffy who was joined by nine members of his current first team. He said: “It was a terrific day and we were fortunate enough to have perfect golfing weather, the only rain we saw started just as the last players were coming off the course. All the elements were in place for a great day and we raised a fair few quid for the club as well.”

Club director Bobby Gracey, who organised the event, confirmed a “five-figure sum” had been raised for Clyde FC, adding that he was very grateful to the staff of the Westerwood Hotel for their support.

The golfing action was followed by high tea and an auction of items donated by well-wishers, and the success of this inaugural fans vs players golf day means Bobby is already looking into making this a regular part of the Bully Wee social diary.
