Cumbernauid tournament will help CHAS and St Andrew’s Hospice

This year’s annual football tournament in support of the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and St Andrew’s Hospice will be held at Broadwood Stadium on June 29 from noon until 5pm.

The event is organised by local man John Bleasdale and is now in its sixth year.

This year’s trophy is named after Sam McGarrity, a football fan from Carbrain who passed away from cancer at the age of 57.

John said: “There will be 16 teams in total playing a European style format competition. We have teams representing CHAS and St Andrew’s Hospices as well as local firms.”

Adding to the fun as well as the proceeds will be a raffle featuring lots of desirable prizes and additional donations towards the hospices will be welcomed.
