Cumbernauld Colts get go-ahead for Scottish Cup tie with Huntly after four call-offs

The first round tie was originally scheduled for Boxing Day but has been postponed four times.

However, with their ground at Christie Park still unplayable, the Highland League side have switched the match to Cove Rangers' Balmoral Stadium in Aberdeen with an 8pm kick-off.

A tie away to League One side Dumbarton - due to be played this Saturday - is the prize which awaits the winners.

But Colts assistant manager Craig McKinlay says he's not looking that far ahead.

He said: "It's been frustrating for the players. They were all geared up for the initial game on Boxing Day, which didn't happen, and now lads have been having to arrange time off their work because of the journey and what have you.

"It's a difficult draw. They've got a history of doing well in the Scottish Cup and away ties to Highland League teams are always tough. But we're ready, we've prepared well

"It's more difficult to get a view on Highland League teams at the moment because they've not had a huge amount of games, they've only played a few league games.

"But we've had thorough reports on them and we're confident in our approach and that we have a reasonable handle on what to expect.

"Playing a League One team is an incentive. But we're not getting ahead of ourselves and are not looking any further forward than the Huntly game."
