Cumbernauld United sting Thistle to move into fourth place

Cumbernauld United 3 Largs Thistle 1Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League, First Division

CUMBERNAULD United followed up their away victory last week against local rivals Kilsyth Rangers with an equally impressive result over the league’s third placed side Largs Thistle at Guy’s Meadow on Saturday.

United enjoyed a good first half against the Ayrshire outfit and deservedly led by two goals at the interval. Largs had their best spell of the game in the first 15 minutes of the second period when they reduced the leeway. Shortly afterwards, however, they had a man sent off and United took advantage to score a third goal and secure three great points to the delight of manager John Queen and the Cumbernauld support.
