Drew ‘gutted’ to lose two points

The Guy’s Meadow side were their own worst enemy as their 2-1 half-time lead dwindled in an action-packed second-half which brought two penalties, two red cards and three goals.

Drew said: “It took us about 20 minutes to get to grips and we gave away a slack goal. After that we started to get a grip on the game and got the ball down and passed it.

“Two goals from McClymont, one just before half-time, put us in front and I was delighted with that. I thought we were good value for it.”

Drew continued: “In the second-half we made some tactical changes and our shape looked better, but defensive lapses from long balls cost us. We also scored a goal which I think might have been one of the best moves I’ve seen in Junior football.

“But when you score three at home you expect to win. I was absolutely gutted to lose the two points but at the same time we’re in it together.”

Drew has added two loan signings to the squad, centre-half Liam Mushet from Dumbarton and forward Kevin Watt from East Stirling. Both were on the bench on Saturday.

Next up is a trip to face Drew’s old side Bellshill Athletic this Saturday.

Drew added: “It’ll be strange for me – apart from two players, I managed all of their boys. I know their strengths and weaknesses. That should help us prepare.

“But with the quality in Cumbernauld’s squad, I’ll always be confident going into a game against anyone.”
