Football fun in the sun makes festival a huge success

Clubs from all over Scotland converged on Cumbernauld last weekend for Carbrain Boys Club's 14th annual football festival.

The event featured games for a variety of age groups from 2010s right up to 1999s and the glorious weather helped make it a day to remember.

Matches between sides from 2005s to 2010s were played on a non-competitive development football basis.

Winners in other age groups were: 2004s - cups, Kilsyth BC & Hutchison Vale; plates, Jim Baxter Memorial & Celtic North. 2003s - winners Rutherglen Glencairn, runners-up Carbrain. 1999s - winners Cumbernauld Colts, runners-up St Cadoc’s; Seniors - Crookston.

There were also inflatable football areas courtesy of the SFA and McDonalds and club chairman Scott Walker said the festival was a huge success.

He said: “The weather obviously helped but the feedback we have got has been tremendous.”
