Frustration for Bully Wee as Stirling snatch leveller

The Bully Wee struck first- substitute Sean Higgins taking advantage of a poor clearance from Stirling’s Ross Forsyth, lobbing the ball over the keeper and into the back of the opposition net.

The Stirling defender made amends for his mistake shortly after however, grabbing the equaliser, and denying Barry Ferguson’s men all three points.

Clyde looked the better team in the early exchanges, with Dylan Easton’s right footed volley forcing a good save from Stirling keeper Chris Smith on 11 minutes.

Dylan Easton was easily the standout of the first half for Clyde, so it came as no surprise that Stirling would try to limit his influence. Albion duo Ross Forsyth and Bryan Hodge both received bookings for challenges on 22-year old Easton- coming in the 24th and 36th minutes respectively.

As Clyde’s early dominance waned, Albion began to get a grip on the game. Their best chance came just before the hour when Darren Smith’s back heel was picked up by Blair Henderson in a great position. His shot went wide though and he really should have done better.

Clyde started the second half in a similar vein to how they started the first. A stramash in the Stirling box on 50 minutes resulted in the ball falling to David Gormley - his wasted effort comfortably saved.

Gormley was the target of a lot of the frustration coming from the Clyde fans and was replaced in the 66th minute by Sean Higgins.

The substitute made an almost immediate impact - latching on to a mistimed back header from Ross Forsyth. With the goal in his sights, he hurled a left footed drive over Chris Smith to make it 1-0 on 72 minutes.

Stirling’s heads went down after this, conceding a dangerous free kick in the 76th minute when Matthew Flynn was clipped at the edge of the penalty box. It was a great opportunity for Clyde to finish off the tie, but was wasted when captain Scott McLaughlin ballooned it over the bar.

Clyde would rue these missed opportunities and on 79 minutes Ross Forsyth slammed the ball home to tie the game. The Stirling defender made up for his earlier mishap- connecting with a Bryan Hodge corner before sweeping the ball into the net from close range.

There was some confusion in added time when Stirling defender Ross Smith received his second yellow in added time after an altercation with goal scorer Sean Higgins. At first, referee Alan Newlands didn’t realise Smith had already been booked, but soon figured it out and he was sent off.
