“I still can’t believe it”: Kilsyth’s Scott Taggart on beating Celtic

Kilsyth’s Scott Taggart says he is still in shock after helping Greenock Morton humble the mighty Celtic at Parkhead last night.

The 21-year-old defender has played for Greenock Morton since July 2012. He said: “It was a result I never imagined we would get. It still hasn’t sunk in that we achieved what nobody else could do.”

Several of Scott’s friends and family went along to the match and cheered him on as he helped his team weather a determined assault from the Hoops. And keeping the local connection going, it was one-time Clyde player Dougie Imrie who scored the decisive penalty, giving Morton their first win over Celtic since the 1984/85 season.

”This is a moment I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” added the former St Maurice’s High School pupil, who still lives in Kilsyth.
