The opening spell of play was pretty even; neither side created much in the way of chances in the first quarter of an hour.

But gradually Renfrew were starting to look the more likely to score and following a free-kick on the right Fraser Chisholm headed in put them ahead with 25 minutes gone.

Kilsyth’s Craig Hughes then took a knock which needed some treatment but was able to carry on.

Towards half-time Rangers were much more in the game and Alan McFadden made a couple of chances but his only real shot was well saved by Dale Burgess.

Hughes did not come out for the second half, his place had been taken by Scott Falconer. A little later Gary Graham replaced McFadden.

Although Rangers were well in the game they were not getting many shots on target. However with about 20 minutes of the second half gone, and following another free-kick, Jamie Watson got the equaliser for Rangers.

Renfrew made two substitutions almost immediately and it had the right effect as they scored again within three minutes, Patrick O’Keefe shooting past Michael Duke.

Rangers made a final change, bringing on Danny Smith, but Renfrew were comfortable and easily held out.
